Kate Lechner

Founding Teacher Leader and

Elementary Guide

Kate (she/her) has been in Montessori education for over a decade, both in the classroom and as an administrator. Kate comes with experience in a variety of school settings including independent, public, and overseas. Kate is excited to build a racially and economically diverse student body and create a learning community based on curiosity and justice. In her free time, Kate enjoys reading, hiking, exploring new places, and spending time with her boys when they're home from college.

Sarah Tupper

Founding Teacher Leader and

Elementary Guide

Sarah (she/they) comes to Wildflower Montessori with a decade of teaching elementary Montessori in Baltimore and DC and is the recipient of DC’s Most Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. Sarah is thrilled to be able to offer a Montessori education in a small school setting to families that may not have previously had access and to collaborate with the Baltimore community.  When not in the classroom, Sarah loves being near water, whether kayaking, swimming, or splashing around with her two kids.

Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make [them] learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within [them] that light which is called intelligence.
