*We are defining a small school as a school with fewer than 200 students in kindergarten through fifth grades. Indigo Montessori, of course, is a microschool with fewer than 35 students in kindergarten through fifth grades. No other microschools exist at the elementary level in Baltimore.

**We are defining low student-teacher ratio as 16:1 with the qualification that teachers are both certified and in the classroom with students.

***We are defining socioeconomic diversity by at least one-third of the student body qualifying for free/reduced lunch in addition to at least one-third of the student body not qualifying for free/reduced lunch (according to US News and World Report that uses data reported by state education agencies to the federal government).
